November coupon swap tentative date...feedback?

Postby klw » Wed Oct 13, 2010 6:41 pm

It was suggested that we forego an October swap, with the NC State Fair being in town and all. So...how about November 13?

I'd also like to propose that we do a food drive, especially with it being close to Thanksgiving. If everyone who comes to the swap can bring food to donate, my husband will get it to the food pantry run by Catholic Parish Outreach. We just donated two big boxes full ourselves this week. They have a high demand for items that are light, reduced fat, reduced sodium, etc. so please keep this in mind as you're shopping for deals. All donations are welcome, of course, but they don't often receive light or reduced sodium items in donations and they do have several clients with health issues (costs from which may have lead to them needing the services of the food pantry). I spoke with the director of the food pantry, and their #1 need is soups because they are too expensive to buy with pantry funds, and the #2 need is canned goods.

How does everyone feel about swapping November 13 at Moe's at Triangle Towne Center at 4:00?

That sounds like a good idea to me, Karen. I have some cereal & stuff in my pantry that I can donate. What do you want to do about expired coupons? When I took our last batch in, I was told they weren't accepting expired coupons anymore, that it had gotten to be too much for the woman that was taking care of it to handle. Do you know of any other place that will take them?

I don't...I guess we can just recycle them so at least they won't clog up the landfill. I'll tuck it in the back of my mind in case I hear of another place. We could send them to the military ourselves but I just don't have time to do that myself, plus there's postage.

That's what Bridget & I were talking about. It's very expensive for postage. I wonder if one of the other BJ stores would take them?

I won't be able to make it that day...It's Chad's Birthday weekend. I will keep an eye out for somewhere that will accept expired coupons..Steph, ask Faye when you go next week to her class, and see what she does w/hers.

If you ladies need any coupons, let me know and I can save them or meet up somewhere.

awwwww man! I'm sorry you can't make it! I was trying to avoid the Thanksgiving chaos and I guess I should have gone another week back. What about the 6th? Thoughts?

Ok. I guess we'll keep it on the 13th then. I haven't received any other feedback, so I don't know if we'll even have any other people attend.

I want to come but I don't know yet who my husband is taking to the football game with him. If he leaves my oldest at home, he can babysit; but if he takes him, I'll have to bring the other two which will cost me a lot of money in snacks. :D

I didn't bring much to trade last time. I have a lot more this time around.

Bridget gave me a bunch of coupons when I met her last weekend, so I have a ton to swap, also.
